Jayne would like to express a warm hearted thank you to you all for your kindness and generosity in supporting her in her goal to help Jacobs Well. June 2nd was the coldest day in June in Stockholm for the last 50 years. With temperatures at 3 to 4 degrees and wind and rain made the 2012 Stockholm Marathon the most demanding race in the 34 years history of the race.
Sadly everybody’s heads were down and it was a sheer run of survival. The sheer bitter cold and being wet the whole run truly made it a very hard challenge in deed. After 4 months of training Jayne was prepared for the run but nothing had prepared her for the sheer extreme weather conditions of which the cold and wet truly got to her but mentally the determination to not give up and all the people that had supported her to be able to continue to work for Jacobs Well in India for almost another 4 months kept her desire to succeed.
Jayne ran 26.6 miles in 3hrs 50mins 10 secs knowing that all of you had helped to support raise funding for Jacobs Well. Jayne came 515 out of 3,339women and overall she was 4,949 out of 15,000runners of which should have been 22 ,000 but due to the weather many dropped out and to her delight she was the 5th British Lady across the line out of 59 British women.
Wow a huge sigh of relief and delight yes I did it, 26.6 miles in 3hrs 50 mins 10 secs
Thank you all for your kindness as this is thanks to you Jayne Storey is able to be here in India to support Jacobs Well. A warm thank you to Vodafone World of Difference, funding Jayne’s work with Jacobs Well and giving her the drive to run a marathon to raisefunding for Jacobs Well.
